Heat stays inside longer in winter....
With glass sliding doors added to your veranda, you actually create a garden room in which you can relax all year round. Even in winter you can enjoy your garden because the wind and cold air are kept out. The heat in your home is also less likely to slip outside, so your veranda provides a kind of extra insulation for your home. When the winter sun shines, your garden room also warms up quickly thanks to the glass walls. This means you won't have to turn on the heating as quickly and can save a lot of energy.
Tip: Add glass door weather brushes to your sliding glass walls for a windproof finish.
Spend longer in the summer outdoors
On hot summer days, of course, those sliding glass walls are superfluous. Fortunately, you can then slide them open and let a fresh breeze blow in. But even then you can save energy with your veranda. In the summer, your house heats up quickly through the windows, but a veranda can block that heat for longer. As a result, it stays cooler inside and you don't have to turn your air conditioner as hard.
