Installing Pergolas on Porcelain Tiles
When installing a pergola on porcelain tiles, it’s essential to understand the limitations and requirements for a safe and lasting setup.
Tile Thickness Matters
Tiles under 20mm thick are not suitable for safely supporting pergola installations. Here’s why:
Tiles under 10mm are prone to cracking, even when using diamond drill bits.
Tiles under 20mm may still crack under the weight load of the pergola or during installation.
We highly recommend using 20mm outdoor porcelain tiles. We will not accept responsibility for any damage to tiles under 20mm during installation.
Fixing into Tiles
Due to the stress caused by bolting pergolas down:
- Only 1 or 2 bolts per post will be used to avoid cracking.
- In tight spaces, only one bolt may be possible.
- Ideally, pergolas should be bolted into concrete beneath the tiles for a secure fix.
- Please note: All payments are made directly to the installer, and any issues must be resolved with them.
